Early Career Research Fund

The Early Career Research Fund supports emerging scholars pursuing innovative research in African American Studies. This fellowship recognizes the financial barriers facing early-career academics and provides resources to advance groundbreaking work. Funds may be used for research travel, archive access, conference presentations, or other research-related expenses. Recipients are expected to present their research findings at the AfAAS Annual Assembly and acknowledge the AfAAS Early Career Research Fund in any resulting publications.

→PhD holders within 3 years of degree conferral
→Current academic or research position
→Research project advancing African American Studies
→Budget up to $15,000
→Commitment to present findings at AfAAS annual assembly
